Thinking - Wind energy development & CNS/ATM

One of the key sectors holding up wind development planning applications is aviation - often with good reason.  The potential effects of operational turbines on air navigation systems (especially radar) are well understood within the aviation industry which is actively working towards finding a technical solution.  The panacea is still some way off coming to the market, so, in the interim, other mitigation measures have to be found and implemented.

Cyrrus has developed innovative concepts and resolutions to enable wind energy developments and aviation interests to co-exist. Using evaluation techniques derived from in-house expertise, Cyrrus produces mapping which enables better objectivity to be applied to proposals for wind turbine development close to aviation activity.  Furthermore, our knowledge of military and civil air operations as well as our technical capability enables us to provide sound advice to airport operator and wind developer alike.
