Airports have seen an unprecedented increase in air transport movements
over recent years requiring the revision of operational Air Traffic Management
systems, noise compliant routings and their integration into the existing
ATC en-route network. The airspace within which these routes are
contained is a finite resource and often it has to support a diverse
set of users – commercial, military, general aviation and leisure. Usually
the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is responsible for the national airspace
arrangements and each state determines the airspace configuration suitable
to meet its own aviation policy and regulation. In the UK, the
CAA has published a CAP 725 which sets out the process for sponsors to
